For those priests (under the Levitical law) were made without an oath but this with an oath, by him that said unto him, the LORD has sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. And inasmuch as not without an oath, he was made a priest. The temporary Levitical priesthood in all of its aspects pointed to Yeshua’s sinless life, his death, burial, resurrection, and then his role as our Great Heavenly High Priest. For he testifies, Thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. The Levitcal priesthood an expansion of the Melchizedek priesthood was also a prophetic shadow-picture of the new priesthood to come. And verily, they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham. The Priestly Order of Melchizedek 7 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, 2 and to him Abraham apportioned a tenth part of everything. In antiquity, this degree was known as the Order of Melchizadek. The degree depicts Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and his meeting with the High Priest of Salem, Melchizedek. Sometimes, in other jurisdictions, it is referred to as the Anointed Order of High Priesthood.
It is also known as a chair degree to be conferred upon those who have been elected to lead a local Chapter. The Holy Order of High Priesthood is an association for past and current High Priests of local Chapters of Royal Arch Masons.
